About Noel

Simple sometimes is better. My life is full of simple joys. I love to see the first day’s light peaking over the horizon because so often it contains color that fills the sky with grandeur. I’m reminded of Who has gone before me into the day and has prepared the the day for me. I’m reminded of the path that God has carved out for my life. That path is not always clear but I know I’m never alone on the journey.

My life has been very blessed. I have a wonderful husband, Ben “Chip” Filer, and two sons, Ben and Larry, who have grown into adults we are very proud of. I’m also blessed with a large, loving extended family. Life was ticking along with no major hiccups until November 10, 2017. That’s the day we found out Mom was sick, really sick.

My larger-than-life, spiritually-leading, grand matriarch of our family had cancer that had metastasized. Our precious Mama died just one month later. Mom was a story-teller. She told stories of life rooted in her deep faith. She was a woman of service, family, unconditional love, and deep devotion to God. Her sudden change of address profoundly reminded me that time is short and if we want to make a difference, there’s not a second to waste!

I write to honor her and continue the story-telling. I write to share simple, but often profound joys!
